— 8th annual outdoor excursion —

Man Camp is a three-day camping trip in the Arizona desert, designed for fellowship, adventure, and spiritual growth. Enjoy time away from the daily grind, with devotions and great conversations that help build lasting friendships. We’ll sleep in tents, cook over open fires, go four-wheeling, and compete in marksmanship. It’s a fantastic opportunity, so don’t miss out!

BASICS

  • Who: Adult men of PURC and guests, 18+

  • What: Camping, fellowship, shooting, loafing, astronomy, eating, off-roading, and exploration!

  • When: Thurs, Feb. 27 to Sat, Mar. 1

  • Where: 9.6 miles South of Superior, AZ

    • Theme: TBD

  • Cost: Meals provided at no cost to PURC members. $100 fee for guests.

DETAILS

  • Weather: We expect cool days and chilly nights. We recommend gear that keeps you comfortable during both.

  • Firewood: some is provided. But bring a package, if able. We’d hate to run out!

  • Gear: Bring your own camping/sleeping gear, chair(s), etc.

  • Water: Bring 1-2 gallons of water per-person, per day! For you, and for the kitchen!

  • Weapons: Safety will be important for all of us. No shooting in camp. Competition on Saturday MORNING.

  • Adult beverages: Before offering drinks, bear in mind that some attendees are under 21. Others might wish to abstain. Let’s hold one another accountable to stay well within moderation. “Do not be drunk with wine but filled with the Holy Spirit” (Eph 5:18).

  • Off-Roading: There is a lot to explore in the area we plan to make camp. Some areas can be accessed in a 4WD pickup but much of it will require a vehicle that is more capable off-road like a Jeep, UTV, ATV, or dirt bike.

  • Thursday Dinner @ 1800

    Beer Brats, Hot Dogs, Chicken Sausage, sauerkraut, baked beans, chips, pickles

  • Friday Breakfast @ 0800

    Pancakes w/ blueberry/chocolate chips/bananas, eggs, hash browns, Fruit, Milk, Juice, Coffee

  • Friday Lunch @ 1230

    Chicken or Beef Taco bar, Shredded cheese, flour or corn tortillas, green or red salsa, sour cream, lettuce, tortilla chips, tomatoes

  • Friday Dinner @ 1800

    Grill your own Steak or chicken, Shrimp, Caesar Salad, steak fries, cobbler

  • Saturday Breakfast @ 0800

    Sausage, Eggs, Bacon, Fruit, Milk, Juice, Coffee

Coffee will be flowing each morning and through the day and an assortment of savory and sweet snacks will be provided for in-between munchies.

Short-order and Scullery help will be assigned indiscriminately at each meal.

IMPORTANT! Don’t just follow Google blindly!

Some mapping apps wrongly direct you to turn off Az-177 early, onto Cliffside Rd. Instead, you need to go a little further to N. Battle Axe Rd. Drive down a wide gravel road (shown yellow) for approximately 2 miles. It is easy to drive. Turn right on the first road after the cattle pens. This road is more narrow and sandy. Most SUVs and some sedans can drive on it. The camp will be approximately 0.3 miles down that road. Cell service does not exist at the campsite itself. There are places on Battle Axe Rd with Verizon/T-Mobile coverage if communication is critical.

Make sure to download offline maps BEFORE you lose cell service outside of Superior. The saved data will bring you right to the location. We will also post sIgns along the way.
