Did you know, members of Phoenix URC participate in over 25 sub-ministries serving within and outside the local church? Below is a list of ministries and their descriptions, along with names and contact information for ministry coordinators. Feel free to message them about serving, or to cooperate on events together.
Sunday-Specific

Responsible for the tech-side of the service. Running sound board, recording the live stream, and making sure everyone can see and hear what’s going on.

The job of greeters is not just to hand out bulletins. It is to provide the first experience of Christian grace and hospitality to all who enter. You don’t have to be a social butterfly, just sincerely warm.

The role of an usher is to facilitate orderly worship by helping people find seats on time. As well, ushers sometimes have to graciously direct people to scoot in and make room for others.

Teachers and assistants works together to provide instruction to ages PreK-8th grade. (Pastors and elders teach high school through adults).

Adults as well as youth helpers provide this valuable service to parents of children up to age 3.

Every week there are lots of snacks, coffee, and other refreshments to set out and clean up. Everyone loves it, but someone has to manage it! Would you like to take a turn?

Most weeks, different members take turns hosting an informal lunch in the fellowship hall. All visitors as well as newer members, singles and students are encouraged to join us. This is an open invitation just come on in! It's a great way to get to know the Body!

Mid-Week & Events

Vacation Bible School is a week-long program of activities and lessons geared toward understanding the Gospel and applying one's faith to life. For Kindergarten - 6th grade.

Girls (3rd-8th grade) need the discipleship of older Christian women. Through GEMS, women in our congregation have the distinct privilege of building up these “future women.” The goal of the GEMS ministry is to help girls grow in four main areas of life:
Devotional, Mental, Physical and Social.
These goals will be achieved through Bible study lessons, Christian service projects, and activities. There is no better use of our time than to invest in the future of the church.

This ministry introduces 8-14 year old boys to practical skills, service projects, and outdoors activities. It incorporates an emphasis on Reformed faith and discipleship through Bible lessons and mentoring. We meet on second and fourth Wednesday evenings, September-May.

This ministry does things like organize and run the annual Man Camp in February, facilitate Men’s Study, annual Men’s Breakfast and other opportunities.

This committee plans events, such as the Annual Ladies’ Tea and showers, among other things. The overarching goal is to promote discipleship, fellowship, service, and outreach among the women of the church. The mixture of formal and informal women’s events is meant to enfold new people into the life of the church.

T.N.T. stands for Twenties aNd Thirties, and is focused on supporting and discipling young adults.

Focused on the discipleship of teens, grades 9-12, through monthly events, G.R.O.W. (mid-week study), and summer trips such as the R.Y.S. Convention.

These people are responsible to maintain and improve the church’s building and property, either directly or by delegating work to outside companies.

This ministry prepares simple meals for those experiencing illness, birth, and other emergencies.

The lending library at PURC is filled with solid, helpful books and audio/visual resources as a resource for the congregation. Library volunteers keep it all organized, and can assist congregants in finding items.

Helping families outside the church. This ministry connects church members with outsiders who need help with their children, similar to short-term foster care.
