Melissa B. Kruger, GROWING TOGETHER

Sisters in Christ,

What a joy to be able to call out to you in this way…sisters! The Elders have heartily encouraged us to move ahead with a summer mentoring/discipleship opportunity to assist in connecting and coming alongside you as sisters in Christ.

This summer we will be working through a wonderful new book by Melissa Kruger called Growing Together: Taking Mentoring Beyond Small Talk and Prayer Requests.  The book has several topics dealing with growth in the Christian faith, each with an overview and discussion questions. It is designed for use one-on-one or in a small group ~ this would be your choice. You could request someone or we could make suggestions, with your approval.

The timeframe for this is growing together for a season - not a lifelong commitment!  While we hope that you will become friends for life, you would be committing only to this “season” of the book study. There are 9 topics to cover, and we would suggest an extra meeting to get to know each other and set expectations.  Your group would decide where and when to meet ~ weekly or twice a month. (Books will be provided) Don’t let vacation plans deter you!  Because it is just your group, you can meet whenever it is convenient.

Take a moment and fill out this online form If you know who you would like to meet with, just let us know.  If not, answer a few questions ~ like how many women you are willing to meet with and whether you are available during the day or evening ~ and we will send you some suggestions for your approval.

The ultimate goal of this book is for two women to grow together as they walk together. As an older believer shares her wisdom, understanding, and love for the Lord, the younger believer learns from her experience. Mentoring helps give shape to the commands of Scripture. To see an older woman living out gentleness, love, joy, and kindness puts flesh on these words so we can see what they look like in action. The good news about discipleship is that the learning isn’t just one way—the older woman grows too! As she recounts God’s faithfulness and shares God’s word, her own heart is refreshed and revived. Growing together in a Christ-centered relationship fosters a more intimate relationship with Jesus for both the younger and older woman.

Please contact us to discuss this further, we would love to answer any questions you may have. Alternatively, look for the table in the Narthex for the next couple of Sundays.

Thank you,

Nicol, Peggy, and Lindsey
